About
I am Patrick, and I take every photo myself.
I work at your pet's pace, and you are welcome in the photos or just watching.
A little background.
I spent years as a professional photographer before real estate. I built The Alcove, my small studio in Virginia Beach, for portraits and movement work, and it turned out to be exactly the room a pet portrait needs: a wood floor, an arched window, real studio light, and a gate at the stairs.
The look I go for is painterly: studio light on a dark or light backdrop, the kind of portrait that reads as a painting from across the room and holds up at 24x36.
What a session is like.
I work at your pet's pace. Short bursts, breaks when they are needed, treats and a squeaker within reach, and the first few minutes camera-free so the room stops being new. You are welcome to help with treats and the leash, and most owners enjoy it. Afterward I walk you through your images on an ordering call, where you see your pet on your own wall before you choose anything.
I work from the studio or come to you in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Chesapeake. The studio address goes out with your booking, not on the internet.
